Friends and Neighbors,

Whatever the results are tonight across the country, we know that we have work in front of us, the stakes are high, and we know that we are making a commitment together to do what it takes to move forward.

I am here thanks to the votes of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and everyone in between. In our nonpartisan legislature I work with everybody to improve the quality of life here in Nebraska, and I’m honored to be trusted with the opportunity to do that for four more years.

While the encouragement and support I received throughout this campaign was overwhelming, I also saw people hurting. I saw people confused by prejudice. And I know that there are many people who didn’t support my election, and I will be working hard to earn their trust.

The drivers of progress are imagination, curiosity, and discontent. And in Nebraska, we will use our curiosity, imagination, and discontent to chart new paths toward our old goals of civil rights, equality, and justice.
