YES on LB 1132 to Support Victims of Sex Trafficking
February 09th, 2018
Right now the Nebraska Legislature's Judiciary Committee is hearing testimony on LB 1132, a bill supporting sex trafficking survivors introduced by Senator Patty Pansing Brooks. The bill would allow sex trafficking survivors to have convictions linked to their victimization set aside and their related records sealed.
Survivors and victims of sex trafficking are frequently convicted of crimes they were forced to commit. This threat of arrest allows perpetrators to continue to control and coerce their victims.
Please join me in supporting survivors of sex trafficking by contacting the senators on the Judiciary Committee. Ask them to protect survivors and move this legislation to general file. These senators include:
Senator Laura Ebke, chair: (402) 471-2711
Senator Roy Baker: (402) 471-2620
Senator Ernie Chambers: (402) 471-2612
Senator Steve Halloran: (402) 471-2712
Senator Matt Hansen: (402) 471-2610
Senator Bob Krist: (402) 471-2718
Senator Adam Morfeld: (402) 471-2720
