Taking the long view for a better Nebraska

Issues

My daughter Alice and I spent this beautiful Sunday writing thank you notes, playing with Lego at home, and walking around the neighborhood with our friend Justine who took this picture. I want you all to know how grateful I am to Alice for being willing to share me with all of you. I’m running for office because I see so many people my age who struggle to become engaged and feel acknowledged in our civic process, and I don’t want the next generation to experience the same frustration. I will always support Alice, a 7th-generation Nebraskan, in whatever she chooses to do—going away to school, traveling, working, creating, as long as she is pursuing what makes her happy. But I wouldn’t be keeping my commitment as a mother if I didn’t do everything I could to make this a place where she, and all other young people, could be happy to call home. If you know what I mean, if you feel the same way, help me by spreading the word not only about my campaign, but about the great things happening in Nebraska. Call out the good things you see. Celebrate the positive. And keep holding each other accountable in our work to build a state where more young people can feel at home.
