LB1065, LB1115, and LR1CA would restrict Nebraskans’ right to vote by mandating they have a current photo ID and revoking representation for many hardworking, taxpaying Nebraskans.

Today I spoke at the Nebraska State AFL-CIO COPE Convention​, something I've been looking forward to for a long time. I believe that when unions in Nebraska succeed, all Nebraskans succeed. The right to organize and bargain collectively are critical to raising wages, strengthening the middle class, and securing the economic fairness every worker deserves, and all Nebraskan workers, families, and communities benefit from that.

Tonight I got to meet Paul Schmitz, a former Obama Administration adviser who now works for the Collective Impact Forum. He is speaking tomorrow at the Heartland 2050 Summit about how cities can build cultures of collaboration. Tonight he said something I agree with...

"Determined to meet every voter in her district, volunteers join Hunt as she knocks on doors. 'With a strong group of volunteers, I can contact a thousand voters in a day at the doors and on follow-up phone calls,' she said."

It is not the role of the State Legislature to choose who my healthcare provider will be—politicians are not doctors. While Nebraska refuses to take policy measures to expand access to affordable healthcare, they continue to double down on anti-woman, anti-worker, anti-family positions by removing funding for the only access to healthcare some of us have.

A few months ago, the Women's Center for Advancement interviewed me for their #WCAwithinreach campaign, coinciding with the opening of their beautiful new building at 38th & Harney in Omaha. Today my story went live, and you can read it on their webpage. Thank you to the WCA for offering me a platform to share my support of the important work they do, and to share why their mission is so personal to me. I will always be a champion for the WCA and the people they serve. 

We had a great time tonight at Hardy Coffee Co working on postcards to voters and preparing literature for more door knocking this week! I am so lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers--you all really gas me up to keep up the momentum! My response to the 18th school shooting in the past 45 days, this tragic massacre in Parkland, Florida, struck a nerve with many people who are following my campaign. And I will address that pushback.
